Teams can be made up of one or two players and can play in singles or doubles. Players throw bags underhand from the pitcher's box behind the board. Players must keep their feet behind the board's leading edge. Players take turns throwing bags toward the opposite board. The team that scored points in the previous inning goes first in the next inning. Players earn one point for throwing a bag onto the board, and three points for throwing it into the hole. Missing the board results in no points. The first team to reach 21 points wins the game. Boards are usually about 24 feet apart.
